Question by Foreign Politics Major: Can I backdate a legal separation in NY if I've been physically separated from my wife for 3 years?
My wife lives in NY, I've been stationed in Japan for 3yrs. She stayed in NY to continue college but now our marriage has gone cold. NY state does not enable no fault marriages so we have to do a legal separation for at least one year. Can I backdate my legal separation?
